Aluminum Nitride Ceramics

Aluminum nitride ceramic is made of aluminum nitride powder as the raw material, after forming and sintering to obtain a stable crystalline phase structure, it has the characteristics of high thermal conductivity, high temperature resistance, good corrosion resistance, light weight, good thermal shock resistance and oxidation resistance, it is widely used in semiconductor (substrate), mechanical engineering and petrochemical. Theoretical thermal conductivity can reach up to 320W/(K*m), for actual products, it may influenced by AlN the purity,  sintering additive and process, thermal conductivity is from 170 to 230W/(K*m). Usually AlN ceramic is divided to a few types based on their thermal conductivity, appropriate type AlN can be selected according to application scenario and parameter requirements.

Properties of AlN Ceramics

Aluminum nitride is a kind of high thermal conductive advanced industrial ceramic, to meet the needs of different fields, appropriate sintering additive and process can be selected to achieve required properties.

 

1. With high thermal conductivity, up to 230W/(℃*m), small thermal expansion coefficient, only around 4*10-6/℃, which is closed to silicon thermal expansion, also the thermal shock resistance is good.

 

2. Good electric insulation, electrical resistivity is higher than 1014Ω*cm,  breakdown voltage is larger than 15KV/mm, so it has large current carrying capacity.

 

3. Low dielectric constant and dielectric loss, which can reduce the energy loss during signal transmission.

 

4. AlN can resist erosion of various acid, alkali and other chemical substances, corrosion resistance is very good.

 

5. AlN material is non-toxic and harmless, meeting the requirements of safety and environmental protection.

 

6. AlN has high mechanical strength, good toughness, strong resistance to mechanical impact.
