Boron Carbide Ceramic

Boron carbide ceramic is made of boron carbide powder as the main raw material, after forming and sintering to obtain a stable crystalline phase structure, it has the characteristics of high temperature resistance, high hardness, good wear resistance, corrosion resistance, light weight, good thermal shock resistance and oxidation resistance, it is widely used in mechanical engineering, semiconductor, petrochemical, electric power, environmental protection and energy saving, national defense and other industries. According to the composition and sintering process, its main types are pressureless sintered boron carbide, hot pressure sintered  boron carbide, HIP sintered boron carbide, etc., appropriate type  can be selected according to application scenario and parameter requirements.

Properties of B4C Ceramics

Boron carbide is a kind of widely used advanced industrial ceramic, to meet the needs of different fields,  appropriate sintering process can be selected, to achieve required properties.  Hot pressure sintering is the most widely used process, for the product can get dense structure and high mechanical strength. 

 

Excellent wear resistance

Boron carbide material has high hardness, which is higher than 29GPa, so the wear resistance is excellent and service life is long.

 

High temperature resistance

The normal use temperature of boron carbide ceramic can reach higher than 1400℃, available for the requirements of high temperature environment.

 

Corrosion resistance

Boron carbide material has good corrosion resistance, it does not react with various acids, alkalis, salt or other chemical agents, without the risk of failure caused by corrosion.

 

Light weight

Density of boron carbide ceramic is onlyl around 2.5g/cm3, which is much lower than steel or other metal material, also lighter than most ceramic materials.
