The core element of zirconia oxygen sensor is the zirconia ceramic chip, as a solid electrolyte, it produces oxygen ions at high temperatures and becomes a conductor. When the oxygen concentration on both sides of the zirconia ceramic tube is different, oxygen ions will produce migration and form an electromotive force. This principle can be used to detect the oxygen concentration in the engine exhaust gas and high temperature flue gas, which can be applied to control the air-fuel ratio and improve the combustion efficiency, also reduce harmful gas emissions.
